Grant Medical Center is one of the top hospitals in the U.S. and is nationally recognized by the American College of Surgeons for its Level I Trauma Center, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, heart and vascular care, neurosciences and orthopedics.
Grant has received regional and national recognition including: one of “America’s Best Hospitals” by U.S. News and World Report; a designated Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and four disease-specific certifications from the Joint Commission.[1]
Services and Clinical Programs
Trauma Care
There are only two adult Level I Trauma Centers in Columbus — and Grant Medical Center is one of them, having maintained verification as a Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons since 1993.[1]
Surgery
Handling more than 20,000 surgery procedures annually, Grant surgeons in a variety of specialties use the Da Vinci® Surgical System for minimally invasive surgery.[1]
Heart and Vascular Care
To reduce time to treatment for patients with heart attack symptoms and increase the effectiveness of care provided, Grant Medical Center uses the innovative STEMI Alert System, sending medical information from the ambulance directly to the physicians at the Emergency Department.
The Vascular and Vein Center at Grant Medical Center specializes in both traditional and minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat peripheral vascular diseases and conditions. Grant vascular surgeons use these and other technologies including minimally invasive procedures for quicker recovery.[1]
Neurosciences
Certified by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center, Grant exceeds the national guidelines for stroke intervention, treatment and prevention. The Level 1 Trauma Center treats complex brain injuries and promotes recovery in a dedicated Brain and Spine Intensive Care unit and neurorehabilitation program.
Grant Medical Center received the American Stroke Association award Get with the Guidelines®— Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award for excellence in stroke intervention and outcomes in 2010 and 2011, with placement on the Target: Stroke Honor Roll in 2011.[1]
Orthopedics
In 2010, Grant Medical Center was awarded disease-specific certification from The Joint Commission for Joint Replacement for knee and hip. The Bone and Joint Center provides comprehensive treatment and therapy for orthopedic conditions ranging from shoulder to foot and ankle.[1]
