Gulmohar is a Marathi film released on 27 February 2009.[1] The movie was produced by Uttam Jhavar and directed by Gajendra Ahire. The movie title is a metaphor: a married woman (like a Gulmohar tree) withstands treacherous conditions of her marriage--yet survives to spread its blossom of beauty and goodness.

Synopsis

Deven, an achiever and competent young man is married to Vidya who has loved him for whatever he was and whatever he wants to be.

Yet the pace and anxiety of the city life with its unending demands takes a toll on their relationship. Deven's attitude to have everything his way doesn't help and puts their relationship under severe strain. Even through all this, Vidya continues to maintain her composure and strides through to a successful career while continuing to give her wholehearted love and care to her husband.

Vidya finds help in a young man Bhagwan. But her friendship with Bhagwan is misunderstood and suspected for worse by Deven. The uneasiness haunts Vidya as she is caught between deciding to either accept her fate, or challenge the norms and redefine her destiny.
