She won the World Junior Girls Chess Championship in 2012.[3] This achievement earned her the qualification for the Women's World Championship 2014, which was eventually postponed to 2015.

In November 2012, Guo competed as FIDE president nominee in the Women's World Chess Championship 2012, in which she was eliminated in the first round by Natalia Zhukova.

In August 2014, she won both team and individual silver medals, the latter on the reserve board, in the 41st Chess Olympiad (Women).[5]

She took part in the Women's World Chess Championship 2015, where she was knocked out in the first round by the eventual runner-up Natalija Pogonina.
