Gwalior trade fair

Gwalior Trade Fair is a large trade fair in Madhya Pradesh, in Northern India. It was started in 1905 by king of Gwalior Maharaj Madhav Rao Scindia.

Location

Covering 104 acres (0.42 km2) and divided into several 'blocks' and 'sectors', the Mela (mela is a Hindi word for fair) Ground at Race Course Road is known as the Pragati Maidan of Madhya Pradesh, India. The Gwalior Trade Fair Authority, an autonomous body, is now responsible for the whole administration of the Trade Fair.[1]

Attractions

The major attractions of the fair include the "Haasya Kavi Sammelan" (the poets gathering), the "Kavvali Dangals", the "Mushairas", the Cultural Evenings, the Music Nights and several other activities integral to the Mela.

The cattle trade fair is still an integral part of the Gwalior Trade fair with about 10,000 animals being sold or bought each year.

Shilp Bazar is also the beautiful attraction of Gwalior Trade Fair.In this Bazaar different types of hand made things are sold by the people of different states from all over India.
