Hakeem Lewis (born June 23, 1994), better known by his stage name Hak (pronounced "hawk"), is an American hip hop and R&B recording artist, record producer, songwriter, and music video director from New York City, New York. Aside from his solo career, Hak was a founding member of New York City hip hop group Ratking. He later left Ratking in 2016 and released his debut solo studio album, June, the same year. He is currently signed to XL Recordings and Hot Charity Recordings.

Career

Hak began his musical career in 2011 as a member of the New York City hip hop group Ratking with rapper Wiki and rapper-producer Sporting Life. Hak released one studio album, So It Goes (2014), and two extended plays, Wiki93 (2012) and 700-Fill (2015), with Ratking before announcing his departure from the group in 2016. He did not cite ill feelings towards Wiki or Sporting Life, but did state the reason for his departure was feeling like he was being left out of the group and wanting to branch out into new possibilities with his music and art.[1] His debut studio album, June, was released on his 22nd birthday, June 23, 2016.

Outside of Ratking, Hak has collaborated with several other artists such as Skrillex, Clams Casino, Kelela, Remy Banks, Charles Murdoch, Ta-ku, and Wafia, among others.
