Hannan Majid (Bengali: হান্নান মাঝিদ; born August 1979) is an English documentary filmmaker.
Early life
Majid's parents are originally from Dhaka, they migrated to Bradford, West Yorkshire, England where Majid was born and brought up. He is a graduate of the Northern Film School in Leeds.[1]
Career
Along with Richard York, Majid runs a documentary production house called Rainbow Collective. Rainbow Collective is a production company based in London, they specialise in creating documentaries which highlight and deal with human and children's rights issues.[1] Since its inception in 2006, they have shot, directed and produced documentaries in South Africa, Bangladesh, Iraq and the UK,[2] and have won awards in Dubai, France and the Czech Republic.[1] Their documentaries include, AmaZulu: The Children of Heaven, Bafana,[1] Baghdad Holiday,[3] Voices from the Camps, Into the Unknown Skinny, Homeless,[4] The Machinists,[5] Tears in the Fabric[6][7] and Mass E Bhat.[2]
