Harry Cann (29 March 1905 – 9 May 1980) was a Cornish professional footballer who made 225 appearances in the Football League playing as a goalkeeper for Plymouth Argyle.[1][2]
Cann was born in Tintagel, Cornwall.[1] He played for his local club (Tintagel A.F.C.) before joining Plymouth Argyle in 1927. He made his debut in the Football League towards the end of the 1927–28 season, and took over from Fred Craig as first-choice goalkeeper the following year. He joined Fulham on a free transfer in 1939.[2] The Second World War put an end to his League career,[1] but he played for Fulham in the 1939–40 season of the wartime competitions.[3]
He died of a heart attack in Tintagel.
Notes
- A. ^ : Joyce suggests a birthdate of 30 March 1908,[1] as against Greens on Screen's 29 March 1905,[2] but the Plymouth Argyle website confirms 1905 as the year of birth.[4]
