Human Tissue Resource Network
The Human Tissue Resource Network (HTRN) is a biobank based at Ohio State University comprising several organizations there.
History
In 1975 an organization called Tissue Procurement Shared Resources was founded at OSU to collect and provide tissue specimens from malignant and benign solid tumors. In 1987 along with the University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of Pennsylvania, Ohio State University was a founding member of the Cooperative Human Tissue Network.[1][2] The organization which was the Tissue Procurement Shared Resources and which founded the Cooperative Human Tissue Network is now a part of the Human Tissue Resource Network.
Tissue Procurement Shared Resources merged into James Cancer Hospital.
Membership
The HTRN is managed by the OSU Department of Pathology and its membership includes organizations in other departments and nearby research institutions.[3]
Other members include the Pathology Core Facility, Tissue Archive Service, AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource, the Cancer and Leukemia Group B Pathology Coordinating Office, and an Adenoma Polyp Tissue Bank.
