Colby Hunter Cervenka (born January 3, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2016 with the Atlanta Braves.
Career
Cervenka was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 27th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft out of Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas.[1] In May 2012, he was acquired by the Chicago Cubs as the player to be named later in the Marlon Byrd trade.[2] Chicago released Cervenka on May 29, 2015,[3] and he signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball on June 12.[4] After eight games with Sugar Land,[5] Cervenka signed with the Atlanta Braves on July 7.[6]
Cervenka was invited to spring training in 2016, but started the season with the Double A Mississippi Braves.[7] He was called up to the majors for the first time on April 11, 2016.[8]
On August 6, 2016, the Braves traded Cervenka to the Miami Marlins for Michael Mader and Anfernee Seymour.[9]
