Hybanthus concolor is a member of the Violaceae (violet) family and is commonly known as eastern green violet.[2] It is native to eastern North America.[2]
Description
Green violet is a shrub-like herb that grows to a height of 30 cm to 1 m. Its inconspicuous flowers are small, close to the stem, and green.[3] It blooms from May to June in Ontario and from April to June in Connecticut.
Habitat
Hybanthus concolor is found in moist, shady sites in ravines and on rocky slopes, also on floodplains, in rich, calcareous soils.[4] Most of the Canadian populations are located along the Niagara Escarpment, a prime habitat for green violet.
