The short-crested monarch (Hypothymis helenae) is a species of bird in the Monarchidae family. It is endemic to the Philippines.
Subspecies
Three subspecies are recognized:[2]
- H. h. agusanae - Rand, 1970): Found on Dinagat Island, Siargao and eastern Mindanao (east-central and south-eastern Philippines)
- H. h. helenae - (Steere, 1890): Found on Luzon, Polillo Island, Catanduanes and Samar (northern Philippines)
- H. h. personata - (McGregor, 1907): Found on Camiguin Norte (northern Philippines)
Habitat
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.
