Ignazio Cocchiere (born 19 September 1987) is an Italian footballer who plays for Belgian Second Division club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. He is currently one of the crowd favorites in Stade Joseph Marien, having played an integral part in their promotion to the Belgian Second Division in season 2014 - 2015. During this season he signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2016.[1]

Biography

Youth career

Born in Varese, Lombardy, Cocchiere started his career in Lombardy team Legnano, where he played for its Berretti under-20 reserve since 2004–05 season.[2] Cocchiere also played for a local club in Azzate, the Province of Varese before 2001.[3]

In mid-2006 he was signed by Internazionale, 20 km away from the town of Legnano. Legnano team-mate Davide Fais also returned to Inter from temporary deal. Likes most of his new Primavera under-20 reserve team-mate, Cocchiere received a first-team shirt number of no.56.[4] However, Cocchiere only played 4 times in the reserve league for the champion. In those 4 games, Cocchiere started twice, one as midfielder,[5] one as forward.[6] Cocchiere scored a goal for Inter reserve in Città di Oleggio tournament (friendly tournament), losing to Torino 1–2.[7]

Lega Pro

After graduated from the reserve, Cocchiere left for Pizzighettone in late-August 2007. As the club also signed Eros Bagnara and Michele Piccolo, as well as experienced Marcello Campolonghi, Cocchiere only able to play 2 times. Cocchiere also returned to Berretti reserve league for Pizzighettone[8] as an overage player. In 2008–09 Lega Pro Prima Divisione, he was signed by Pro Patria. Cocchiere failed to play any game and was released in February 2009.[9]

Switzerland

Cocchiere left for Swiss 1. Liga club Baulmes ca. January 2010. His goal scoring record made Nyon of Swiss Challenge League signed him in May 2010, but expected him to play as a right-back.[10] However, after a handful appearances, Cocchiere was released in January 2011.

Serie D

Cocchiere then returned to Italy for Serie D club Gallaratese. He scored 4 goals in 7 games. On 4 January 2012 he was signed by Caronnese.[11] Both clubs was located in the Province of Varese.
