Isabelle Nef, née Lander (27 September 1895 Genève) - 2 January 1976 Bossy) was a Swiss pianist and harpsichord professeur at conservatoire de Genève.

Biography

She studied piano at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva with Marie Panthès and then, in Paris, composition with Vincent d'Indy and harpsichord with Wanda Landowska[1].

She had a concert career in Europe, South America and North America including Seattle, New York and Washington,[2] USSR, South Africa,[3][4] and Australia.  For 80 years, she performed on the pianoforte works of Mozart and Bach at the church Saint Gervais in Geneva.[5]

In 1936, she became the first harpsichord professor at the Conservatory of Geneva. She then became an honorary professor and remained there until 1975 when she retired at the age of 80. The harpsichordist Christiane Jaccottet succeeded her.[6]

A street was named for her in Collex-Bossy[7].
