Sultan Iskandar Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Murshidul Azzam Shah I Rahmatullah GCMG KCVO (10 May 1876 – 14 August 1938) was the 30th Sultan of Perak. Perak at that time was part of the British-administered Federated Malay States.He stayed at the Istana Kenangan, then moved to the Palace of Istana Iskandariah, Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar.
Early life
Raja Alang Iskandar was born on 10 May 1876 at Kuala Keboi, Kampar, Perak. He was the third son of Sultan Idris Murshidul Azzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Raja Bendahara Alang Iskandar Teja. He was appointed in 1916, became Raja Bendahara.
Childhood
Raja Alang Iskandar was born at Kuala Keboi, Kampar, Perak, 10 May 1876 as the third son of late Sultan Idris Murshidul Azzam Shah I, later Sultan Idris Shah I of Perak, and his wife Cik Ngah Manah Binti Manda Duwayat (herself a member of the Royal House of Perak and much third son).

Sultan of Perak
He was made Raja Bendahara during the reign of his elder brother, Sultan Abdul Jalil. He ascended the Perak throne in November 1918 following the death of his brother. It was during Sultan Iskandar's reign that the Dinding and Pulau Pangkor territories were returned by the British in 1935. Prior to that, both territories were administered as part of the Straits Settlements. In 1918, upon the death of his stepbrother, Sultan Abdul Jalil Karamatullah Shah, he was appointed as Raja Bendahara. Raja Alang Iskandar ascended the Perak throne in 1918 following the death of his stepbrother Sultan Abdul Jalil Karamatullah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Murshidul Azzam Shah I Rahmatullah.
Istana Iskandariah
For a short time, Sultan Iskandar Shah resided at Istana Lembah (which was built by Tukang Sofian after the great flood of 1926 and completed in 1931) whilst the Istana Iskandariah was being built. Istana Iskandariah was finally completed in 1933.
Death
He died on 14 August 1938 and was given the posthumous title of Marhum Kaddasullah. He was succeeded by his brother-in-law, Sultan Abdul Aziz Al-Mutasim Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Raja Muda Musa.
Legacy
The Istana Iskandariah and Iskandariah Bridge is named in his honour.
