Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. is the North American subsidiary of Isuzu Motors [1] Headquartered in Anaheim, California, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. (ICTA), is the distributor of Isuzu commercial vehicles in the United States. Isuzu commercial trucks have been the #1 selling low cab forward trucks in America every year since 1986.
The Isuzu N-Series low cab forward (LCF) truck family is consistent of class 3-5 trucks, and the only low cab forward lineup that includes two diesel engines and a gasoline engine that is CNG/LPG capable.
The Early Beginnings
March 21, 1984 Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. was established in the United States. The very first KS22 truck arrived at the Port of Jacksonville, Florida on November 10, 1984.
Vehicle was VIN #: JAMJP7468F9400054. The original KS22 had an 87-horsepower naturally aspirated, manual transmission and was not equipped with a tilt cab. These trucks were delivered to the dealer for $9,999.00. Duvall Isuzu in Jacksonville, FL sold the very first KS22 in the United States to a pest control business in Jacksonville.
Through the years
Dealing with an ever-changing medium-duty truck industry, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. has continued to adapt and engineer products centered on the United States market.
1984–1985
In 1985 ICTA imported 1,300 more KS22 trucks. The Isuzu NPR was introduced later in mid-1985 with a turbocharged four-cylinder 3.9 L (116 HP) diesel engine. This truck was the first model that had a tilt-cab. The fourth Elf/N-series originally had twin rectangular headlamps and a grille with five separate segments (seven for the Wide Cab models).
1986
According to R.L. Polk & Company registration data, Isuzu became the best-selling low cab forward in the United States.
1988
In September 1988 Isuzu introduced the 6HK1-TC engine for F-Series trucks (Isuzu FTR and Isuzu FVR).
1989
February 1989 marked the beginning of sales for the 18,000 lb NRR. During June, the NPR Flatlow was introduced. R.L. Polk & Company statistics reported Isuzu-built trucks then dominated 30% of the U.S market. July 30 and August 1 Isuzu introduces the 1990 model line-up at Isuzu’s fifth anniversary celebration in San Francisco, California.
1991
On February 9, 1991, the first American-built gas engine NPR was built in Jainesville, WI.
March 17, 1991 the FRR is launched at the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, KY.
In April 1991, new engine technology with indirect-injection was introduced for the 1992 model line. The four-cylinder diesel will feature new turbo intercooled technology. The 6-cylinder diesel will feature the unique TICS system and redesigned piston heads.
1992
New 4BD2-TC engine with turbo intercooler is rated at 135 horsepower at 2800 RPM. November 18, 1992 the NPR gas engine was introduced to 19 California dealers at the San Diego Port with a dealer drive-away of the first models. California dealers accept first deliveries.
1994
July 1994, the 6HE1-TC diesel engine is introduced.
1995
In 1995 the N/W-Series models received the new Aero Cube Cab and the F-Series received the heavy-duty 6-cylinder 200 HP diesel engine.
2000
FRR introduced 18,000 lbs and 19,500 lbs GVW rating. And the NQR increased its GVW to 17,950.
2001
Diesel-powered crew cab is introduced.
2004
F-Series production begins in Flint, MI for the FTR, FVR, and FXR
2005
50,000th gas truck was built in Janesville in April 2005
2007
April 17, 2007 Isuzu Commercial Truck of Canada, Inc. (ICTC) was incorporated.[2]
2009
Isuzu trucks celebrate 25 years in the US [1984-2009] [3]

Production of gas trucks begin in Charlotte, MI.[4]
2012
Isuzu Reach named 2012 Medium-Duty Truck of the Year [5]
2013

Isuzu trucks celebrated 30 years in the U.S.[7] Hisao Sasaki is president and Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. Shaun Skinner is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc.
Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. has restored the very first KS22 truck sold for the 30th anniversary.[8]
