Jacobus en Corneel was a 1984-1985 Flemish children's TV series, broadcast on the BRT (nowadays the VRT) every Tuesday and Friday around 18.20 in the evening.[2] It featured the comedic exploits of two bumbling workers.

Concept

"Jacobus en Corneel" was a slapstick series centering around the tall Jacobus and the short Corneel. Jacobus was usually the more serious one of the two, while Corneel was a more jolly, but clumsy character. They both lived in the same house, unless they were called to fix something up. Both men wore caps and blue overalls over a white shirt. When they travelled somewhere they drove by tandem bicycle.[3][4]

Outside shots were done in the Pajottenland, while studio shots were made in Bonheiden. None of the episodes featured dialogue. Instead, the actions on screen were narrated by an off screen voice.[5] In terms of personalities and comedy Jacobus and Corneel were comparable to Laurel & Hardy.[6]
