James Aboud

James Christopher Aboud (born 1956[1]) is a Trinidad and Tobago High Court judge and poet.[2]

Literary career

Aboud's poems are published under his full name "James Christopher Aboud."

He has published two volumes of poetry:

Aboud's work has been published in various journals and Caribbean anthologies.

In 1994 he was awarded the Rodway Prize.

Notable cases as a judge

Aboud heard Kublalsingh and others v The Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago, a case concerning the construction of a major highway in Trinidad and Tobago. An injunction was sought to stop the construction of a multibillion-dollar highway, but the court refused it.

Rambachan v Warner: the acting Prime Minister Surujrattan Rambachan is suing Jack Warner for defamation. In an early part of the case Aboud awarded TT$3,000 costs to Warner when Rambachan failed to attend a court hearing.[3]

"Jack Warner v Attorney Gerenal of Trinidad and Tobago", a case in which the threatened extradition to the United States of former FIFA executive Jack Warner is being contested.
