Jamie West

Jamie West is a British musician from South London.

Jamie West is a Unsigned artist singer/songwriter from London, England. In 2015 Jamie West collaborated closely with his new band The Banished Poets to create the album The Towers (Released: 21st December 2015). The website describes it as "9 tracks of dark-indie blues featuring the singles 'The Towers' and 'Respectable'. Mixed in Electric Lady Studios, New York, by Grammy award winner Michael Brauer." [1]

Biography

In 2009 he won the first Young Busker of the Year competition. Judged by a panel of industry experts, he was presented the award by the Mayor for London, Boris Johnson, at the music venues Indigo2 in the 02 arena.[2]

Jamie West also performed with his band before becoming The Banished Poets, in and around the London 2012 Olympics.

After the London riots of 2011, West wrote the EP Put Your Love Letters Up.[3][4] He also covered a Whitney Houston track I Wanna Dance With Somebody[5] which was recorded just before her death and released just after. He also released 2 music videos for the title track and cover on the EP.

His debut album Walking In The Movies was created in 2010 and released the next year.

In 2009 he became London's first "Busker of the Year" in a competition organised by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson as part of the Rhythm of London festival.[6]

He released one of his singles, "Give Me Everything You Got", with London-based label Polymorph Records on 19 July 2010. All his other work has been self released as an Unsigned artist
