Javed Malik is a Pakistani diplomat, currently serving as Pakistan's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain,[2][3] and Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Trade and Investment in the GCC.[4][5]

Malik has also served as Pakistan's Ambassador at Large between 2008 - 2011.[6]

In 2013, he was appointed as Prime Minister's Special Envoy to the GCC and accompanied Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his visits to the United Arab Emirates,[7] Kingdom of Bahrain[8] and other GCC states.

Malik has initiated various trade and Economic diplomacy projects aimed at promoting the business trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan.[9][10] He also organised a number of seminars, conferences and has led investors delegations to Pakistan.[11][12] [13][14]

Personal life

Malik was born in Islamabad, Pakistan; After an early education in Islamabad where he attended Froebel's International School and Bahria College, he went to the UK for further studies. While there he attended the Middlesex University in North London from where he graduated in law and politics, and subsequently practiced with the law firm, Abbot Kennedy, in the city of London.

Career

Diplomacy

In 2008, the Prime Minister of Pakistan appointed Javed Malik as Pakistan's Ambassador at Large with the status of a minister. In this capcpcity Malik advised and assisted the Prime Minister of Pakistan on issues relating to Overseas Pakistanis in the GCC. He organised the first session of the Overseas Pakistanis forum in the UAE.[15][16][17]
He resigned in 2011.

In 2012, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, president of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), appointed Javed Malik as his special advisor on Foreign Relations & Overseas Pakistanis.[18][19][20][21]

In 2014, following Sharif's return to office as prime minister of Pakistan, he appointed Malik as the Prime Minister's Special Envoy for Overseas Investment and Trade. In this role he advises and assists the Prime Minister on economic and trade diplomacy matters.[22]

In 2016, Javed Malik was designated as Pakistan's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain.[23]

Media

Malik has been associated with print and television media since 1999, When he began his television career in London with Prime TV. He later joined Pakistan's Largest Television Network, ARY News. He is ranked among the pioneer anchors of independent television in Pakistan. His programme, "Insight with Javed Malik" remained one of the most watched television shows in Pakistan for many years.[24][25]

Malik is the President and Publisher of The International Diplomat', a leading current affairs magazine, publishing from the UAE.' .[26] He also writes for international newspapers such as Khaleej Times (in UAE), and The News International, and appears on Geo Television Network [27]
