Joanna P. Adler (born 1964) is an American actress, known for her roles in Off-Broadway plays. She has won Obie Award in 1995. In 2014, Adler starred in the second season of Lifetime television series, Devious Maids.
Life and career
Adler graduated Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.[1] She later appeared in number of television commercials and in the independent movies, most notable The Event and Book of Love. In 1995, Adler has won Obie Award for Distinguished Performance by an Actress for The Boys in the Basement.[2][3] She also performed in many other stage productions during her career. On television, Adler guest-starred in Sex and the City, Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, 30 Rock, The Good Wife, Orange Is the New Black, and also had recurring roles on Gravity, and Are We There Yet?.[4][5]
In December 2013 came the announcement that Adler had been cast as a series regular for second season of the Lifetime television comedy-drama series, Devious Maids.[5] She played the role of Opal, a new maid who is secretive & conniving, reminiscent of Mrs. Danvers from Hitchcock’s Rebecca.[5]
