Johann Tanzer
Johann Tanzer is a Canadian sailboat designer, who founded the sailboat manufacturer that bore his name, Tanzer Industries, in 1966.[1][2]
Tanzer immigrated to Canada in 1956, with a portfolio of sailboat designs that he hoped to put into production.[3]
Tanzer is noted as the designer of several commercially successful sailboat designs, the most produced of which is the Tanzer 22, with 2,271 built between 1970-1986.[1][4]
His company, located in Dorion, Quebec and with satellite manufacturing operations on both American coasts, became one of the largest boat builders in Canada during its 20 years in business, before it was forced into bankruptcy in 1986.[2]
