John C. Land III is a Democratic member of the South Carolina Senate, representing the 36th District since 1976. Previously he was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1975 through 1976.

Land attended University of South Carolina, where he became a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, graduating in 1966. Land received his juris doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1968
