John Henry White Jr. (born November 10, 1933) is an American historian and museum curator.

Biography

White was born in 1933 at Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1958, he graduated with bachelor's degree from Miami University. As soon as he graduated he got a job as an associate curator for the Smithsonian Institution, for such organizations as Department of Science and Technology, Division of Transportation, and the Museum of History and Technology. From 1961 till 1966 he was an associate curator of the Division, later he became the curator of the same position from 1967–1985, and after it, got a position of senior historian that he kept from 1986 till 1989.[1]

White has authored a rich series of books on the history of American railroad development. These carefully researched and well documented works are valuable for all students and enthusiasts of transportation history.
