John "Mopsy" Rantall (born 9 September 1943) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League.

Originally from Cobden, Rantall moved to the South Melbourne Football Club where he debuted in 1963. He moved to North Melbourne Football Club with the intention of playing in a premiership side in 1973 and got his wish - winning in 1975 and moving back to South for 1976. A reliable defender who worked tirelessly to repel opposition attacks, Rantall had magnificent skills.

He moved to Fitzroy for one last season in 1980, where he played 6 games and broke the VFL games record.

In total, Rantall played 336 games - 260 for the Swans (a then club record), 70 for the Kangaroos and 6 for the Lions.

In 1996 Rantall was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
