Julia Louise Haworth (born 27 July 1979[1]) is an English actress. She is best known for playing the role of Claire Peacock in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2003 to 2011.
Early and personal life
Haworth was born in Burnley, Lancashire, England, UK. She attended St Christopher's Church of England High School, Accrington and later went to Nelson and Colne College and Manchester University. When she was nine, her mother enrolled her in drama workshops at Burnley Mechanics, and she subsequently joined Burnley Youth Theatre, combining acting roles with her studies.[2]
In 2006 she married her partner Jon Wormald at St Stephen's Church, Burnley.[3] Haworth gave birth to a daughter, Sophia Elizabeth on 25 July 2008.[4] Her second daughter, Amelie Grace was born on 11 February 2013.[5]
Haworth is a patron of UK-based Epidermolysis bullosa charity DEBRA.[6]
Career
After university, Julia spent 18 months in Peak Practice followed by a similar time in Merseybeat.[2]
She first appeared on Coronation Street on 9 April 2003, when her character Claire interviewed to be nanny to Ashley Peacock's son.[7] It was the fourth part she had auditioned for on the show and her previous experience with childcare was working on the mother and baby counter at Boots.[2] Julia took maternity leave in July 2008, returning in Spring 2009.[4] Her last appearance was on 14 January 2011, when Claire fled to France with her step-son and son.[8]
