KDFT, branded as La Poderosa, is an AM radio station broadcasting in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex as a Spanish language religious station. This station is licensed in Ferris, Texas, and is owned and operated by Multicultural Broadcasting.
History
The station began its broadcasting activities in 1986 with a Southern Gospel format with temporary callsign KLCA before making a permanent switch to KDFT two months later. Then in 1990, the station slightly changed its format to urban contemporary gospel, much like KHVN-AM. From that day on, it was known as "The Rainbow Across North Texas" (the station's slogan). In 1998, KDFT again changed its format to Spanish religious format under the same name and slogan until 1999. It has operated during the daytime hours until 2004 when it expanded its airtime to 24 hours a day.
