Kandy is a communications platform as a service (PaaS) created by GENBAND in September 2014.[1] The Kandy platform is designed to enhance software applications with real-time communications capabilities. Kandy is headed by Paul Pluschkell, who also serves as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Cloud Services for Kandy’s parent company GENBAND. Kandy’s cloud-based platform enables companies to seamlessly embed messaging, voice, video, presence and co-browsing into Web and mobile applications.

Kandy offers a suite of Quick Starts, SDKs, APIs, and applications.

History

Kandy was formed when GENBAND announced the launch of its real-time software development communications platform in September 2014.[2][3]

In January 2015, GENBAND introduced the Real Time Communication Tour via the KandyMobile, a tour bus equipped with Kandy product demonstrations and use cases that travelled across North America.[4]

In March 2015, GENBAND launched the Kandy Throw Down competition to encourage developers to add real-time communications into new or existing apps. In June 2015, GENBAND launched the Ottawa Kandy Hackathon, and hosted more than 20 hackathons online and throughout North America.[5]

Since launch, Kandy has formed partnerships with businesses including Accellion,[6] SAP,[7] and Tech Mahindra.[8]
