From 1986 to 1989 he was employed in the de:Presse- und Informationsamt der Bundesregierung.
From 1989 to 1993 he was Ambassador in Dhaka (Bangladesh).
From 1993 to 1996 he was Ambassador in Kathmandu (Nepal) with coacredition to Oman^[1]
