Katherine Jean "Kate" Bolduan[1][2][3] (pronunciation: /ˈbɔːldwɪn/; born July 28, 1983) is an American broadcast journalist. She is the co-anchor of At This Hour with Berman and Bolduan, along with John Berman. Bolduan also anchors State of the Race with Kate Bolduan weekdays at 2:30 p.m. eastern time on CNN International. She was previously a co-anchor for the CNN program New Day,[4] with co-hosts Chris Cuomo and Michaela Pereira. based in CNN's New York bureau. Before venturing out to New York, Bolduan anchored The Situation Room alongside fellow CNN broadcast journalist Wolf Blitzer. Bolduan provides feature stories and breaking news reports as well as custom live reports. Previously, she served as congressional correspondent based in Washington, D.C. as well as a general assignment correspondent for the network.

Early life and education

A native of Goshen in Indiana,[5] she is the third child of Dr. Jeffrey and Nadine Bolduan, both of whom are medical professionals. She was educated at Goshen High School, a public high school in her home city, followed by George Washington University, from which she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 2005,[6] with a bachelor's degree in journalism.[4] During her time at the university, she walked on to the women's volleyball team[7] and acted with the student theatre organization.[8]

Career prior to CNN

Prior to joining CNN Newsource, Bolduan was a general assignment reporter for WTVD-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. She began her television career as a production assistant for NBC News and MSNBC in Washington D.C. [9] She has worked at House & Garden magazine, Dateline NBC, NBC Nightly News, NBC News, and MSNBC.

CNN Newsource

Bolduan began her tenure at the Cable News Network as a national correspondent for CNN Newsource. Here, she provided breaking news coverage and feature reports for a vast number of CNN Newsource affiliates. During her time at CNN Newsource, she most notably covered the 2008 United States presidential election and traveled throughout the United States covering other news making headlines including the Minneapolis Bridge collapse, the O.J. Simpson armed robbery case, and the retiring NASA Space Shuttle fleet.

The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer

Kate Bolduan was previously co-anchor of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer before moving to New York. The Situation Room is an early evening newscast broadcast from the network's Washington DC studios which airs weekdays from 5-7pm ET. Kate Bolduan alongside Wolf Blitzer provided current events, breaking news, political headlines, and reports within lively discussions during the two-hour program.

New Day

New Day is a weekday morning television show on CNN . It premiered on June 17, 2013 and airs from 6:00-9:00 a.m. ET, originating from CNN's Time Warner Center studios in New York City. New Day replaced Starting Point, formerly anchored by Soledad O'Brien, which had aired since January 2, 2012.

At This Hour with Berman and Bolduan

Bolduan joined CNN's new morning show, At This Hour, which premiered on January 26, 2015, alongside John Berman. At This Hour covers various news stories of the day with co-hosts Kate Bolduan and John Berman. At This Hour airs weekdays from 11am-12noon ET, and is broadcast live from CNN's New York Studios in Manhattan.

State of America with Kate Bolduan

Bolduan was named anchor of her own CNN International program covering the 2016 U.S. Presidential race for a global audience. Following the election, the program was renamed and pivoted to focusing on U.S. news and affairs. The show airs weekdays at 2:30pm ET, live from CNN's New York Studios in Manhattan.

Personal life

Bolduan lives in New York with her husband and daughter.

In 2010, Bolduan married Michael Gershenson, who works for The Carlyle Group, and they lived in the Washington D.C. area. However, Bolduan and Gershenson moved to New York in early 2013 when Bolduan was heading to anchor CNN's morning lineup.

In early 2014, Bolduan announced on her show, New Day, that she was expecting a new child later in the fall. Cecelia Eve Gershenson was born in September, 2014.
