Katie Brennan is an Australian rules footballer who has represented the Western Bulldogs women's team in the Australian Football League (AFL) exhibition matches since 2013. Brennan was signed as a marquee player for the club ahead of the inaugural AFL Women's season in 2017.
Junior and amateur career
Born in Queensland to two Victorian parents, Brennan began playing football with her father and brothers at age 4. Her first game of competitive football came when she filled in for her brother's Under 8s side at just six years of age. She kicked 7 goals on debut and continued to play with the Logan Cobras boys through age 15.[2]
From there Brennan moved to the youth girls league before moving again into the Queensland Women's League a year later. She played for and captained the Queensland Under 18 side between 2007 and 2010.[3][4]
Brennan moved to Melbourne ahead of the 2013 season, where she began playing for the Darebin Falcons in the VWFL.
Brennan was drafted 22nd overall by the Western Bulldogs in the 2013 Women's draft and played for the club's representative side in exhibition matches through 2016.[1] Brennan was the winner of the Susan Alberti Award for the Western Bulldogs's Best Female Player at the end of the 2015 exhibition season.[3]
AFL Women's career
She was signed as a Marquee player by the Bulldogs in July 2016 and will lead the club its Inaugural season in 2017.[5]
Other work
Outside of football, Brennan owns and operates her own strength and conditioning business, kb.performance.[6]
