Kaylee Manns (born 27 January 1988 in Topeka, Kansas) is an American female volleyball player. With her club Iowa Ice she competed at the 2013 FIVB Club World Championship. She was twice selected All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, in 2008 and 2009 while playing with Iowa State University.
Manns won twice the American Premier Volleyball League, in 2012 with Hoosier Exterminators and 2013 with Iowa Ace. She also won the Norwegian league in 2012 with Stod IL winning the Best Setter award. In the Philippine Super Liga, Mans won the Best Setter award in the 2013 season.
Personal life
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on 27 January 1988.[1] She went to the Washburn Rural high school[2] and studied in the Iowa State University majoring in advertising with a minor in Spanish.[2] She is 178 cm (5 ft 10 in) tall 61 kilograms (134 lb).
Career
Being honored during her high school year at Washburn Rural she received multiple awards in football, basketball and volleyball.[3] During her college career with the Iowa State Cyclones, Manns received the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American second team twice, in 2008[4] and 2009.[5][2] Under the guidance of the coach and former All-American Christy Johnson-Lynch she finished her college career as all-time setting leader in assists per set, with 12.25 and career assists having accumulated 5,625 assists.[3][6][7]
After being called in 2008 and 2009 to the United States women's national volleyball team practices program,[8] she then decided to sign with the Swiss professional volleyball club TSV Düdingen at the time she worked in an internship program with local media in Fribourg.[1] After her Swiss experience, Manns signed with the German club VfB 91 Suhl for the 2011-2012 season.[9] But after a short stay, she was trasferred to the Norwegian club Stod IL. Her club played for 14-1 during the season[10] and won the Norwegian League Championship.[11] She performed for 43.1 on setting winning the Best Setter award and ranking third in the voting for the Most Valuable Player award.[12]
Manns helped the American club Hoosier Exterminators to win the inaugural American 2012 Premier Volleyball League, defeating Iowa Ice in the Championship match.[13] Following a Sabbatical year, she returned to volleyball with the American club Iowa Ice[14] for the 2013 season,[15] winning with this club the Premier Volleyball League Championship.[16] Iowa Ice were later named Norceca representatives to play the 2013 FIVB Club World Championship.[17] Her team lost 0-3 to Brazilian Unilever Vôlei[18] and again 0-3 to the Turkish Vakıfbank Istanbul[19] finally ranking in tied fifth place.[20]
Manns signed with the Filipino club PLDT myDSL Speed Boosters 2013 PSL Grand Prix Conference, ranking in third place with her club and winning the tournament's Best Setter award.[21] Manns played the 2014 PSL Grand Prix Conference with the Filipino club Mane'n Tail Lady Stallions.[22]
Manns practiced with the Puerto Rican club Indias de Mayagüez in order to replace injured setter Lauren Cook,[23][24] but was finally sidelined in favor of fellow American Micha Hancock.[25] Returning to the American Premier Volleyball League, Manns joined Great Lakes Lightning for the 2015 season played in May, finishing with this team in the fifth place.[26] She then played the 2015/16 season with the Turkish club Rota Koleji from İzmir.[27]
In June 2016, after ranking with the American club from the Premier Volleyball League Arizona Sizzle in seventh place,[28] Manns was inducted to the Kansas Volleyball Association Hall of Fame along with the coach Kevin Bordewick.[29] Manns signed with the Filipino BaliPure Purest Water Defenders to play the Shakey's V-League 13th Season Reinforced Conference.[30]
