Keith Brackpool
Keith Brackpool is the British-born Chairman of the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB).[1] Brackpool was appointed to the CHRB by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on September 24, 2009.[2] and was elected Chairman of the Board on January 15, 2010.[3]
Biography
Brackpool served as co-chair for the Governor's Agriculture and Water Transition Task Force from 1998 to 1999 and for the Governor's Commission on Building for the 21st Century from 1999 to 2001.
Brackpool is known as a controversial water speculator who failed in his pursuit of a groundwater project in the Mojave in 2002.[4] Brackpool has pursed other groundwater pumping operations, and in June 2009 Governor Schwarzenegger endorsed Blackpool's proposed Cadiz Basin project in San Bernardino County.[5]
