Khalil Hassan El-Amin (born December 22, 1985) is a former American football player.

Early life

The son of Hassan and Evelyn El-Amin, Khalil attended Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a two-time all-Ohio selection for head coach Tom Stickley's squad, was four-year regular who earned all-Greater Catholic League North, all-city, and all-district honors each of his final two seasons for the Cavaliers. A Rivals.com 2-star prospect, he was not highly recruited by FBS colleges, receiving scholarships from only Kent State University and the University of Cincinnati[1]

College career

El-Amin played as an offensive tackle for the University of Cincinnati. His first year on campus he redshirted, and was named to the Bearcat Academic Honor Roll. As a redshirt-freshman, he saw action in six games, playing extensively at right tackle in the season finale at Rutgers. He was once again named to the Bearcat Academic Honor Roll. As a sophomore, he served as a backup to the offensive tackle positions, but his injuries limited him to one game. He was named the Scout Team Offensive Player of the Week for the Ohio State game. As a junior, he started 11 of the teams 12 regular season games at right tackle. The team went on to win the 2007 PapaJohns.com Bowl 31-21 over Southern Miss.[2] In 2008, he started all 13 games at right tackle, but the Bearcats failed to make a Bowl Game.

Professional career

Cincinnati Commandos

He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Commandos, of the CIFL in 2009. He started all 12 games for the Commandos, who went on to a 9-1 regular season record, and won the CIFL Championship Game. El-Amin was named 1st Team All-CIFL as an Offensive Lineman.[3]

Jacksonville Sharks

On September 29, 2010, El-Amin was assigned to the Jacksonville Sharks of the AFL, but was later reassigned on February 24, 2011 before ever playing a single game for the Sharks.[4]

Northern Kentucky River Monsters

After being let go by the Sharks, El-Amin quickly signed by the Northern Kentucky River Monsters of the UIFL. He missed the first game of the season, as he was still a member of the Sharks, but went on to start every game for the rest of the season for the River Monsters. He was part of the a team that went 11-3 in the regular season, best in the UIFL, and for his efforts he was named 1st Team All-UIFL at the end of the 2011 UIFL season.[5]
