La Dueña (1984–1985) is a Venezuelan telenovela that was produced by and seen on Venezuela's Venezolana de Televisión. An original script written by renowned Venezuelan telenovela writer José Ignacio Cabrujas in collaboration with Julio César Marmol.[1] The telenovela was inspired from the novel The Count of Monte Cristo written by Alexandre Dumas, though they changed the protagonist from male to female. Nardy Fernández was in charge of production, José Salas was in charge of the scenery, María de las Casas was in charge of the environmentation, and Tomás López was its director.
