Laurent Simutoga (born December 8, 1987) is a French rugby union prop. He plays for La Rochelle in the French Top 14. He attended Lindisfarne College in New Zealand from 2005 to 2006. He played for Hawke's Bay Academy before moving to France, He also represented Hawke's Bay in the U-18 and U-20 age group. He was one of the first Wallis and Futuna players to play in New Zealand.[1]

Personal life

Born December 8, 1987 in Noumea, New Caledonia, Laurent is the eldest son of parents Linda (né Fuluhea) and Marcellin Simutoga. Laurent's grandfather from his mother's side was Pelenato Fuluhea, king of Wallis and Futuna from 1947 until 1950. Both of Laurent's parents have Wallis and Futunian heritage. Laurent completed his secondary education at Lindisfarne College in New Zealand after being awarded a sporting scholarship.

Athletics

During his time in Lindisfarne College he represented them at the North Island Championship's in Discus and Shot Put in the Senior Boys division.[2]
