Lawrence Fontaine Snowden (born April 14, 1921) is a retired lieutenant general in the United States Marine Corps. He was commissioned in 1942 and retired in 1979.[1] He is an alumnus of Northwestern University, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the University of Virginia. Commands he held include Chief of Staff, United States Forces Japan (from 1972 to 1975) and Chief of Staff, Headquarters Marine Corps (from 1977 to 1979).[2] His awards include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit.
