Laxmichi Paule is a Marathi movie released on 18 February 1982.[1] It was produced by Arun Pandit Chipade and directed by G.G. Bhosle. The movie is based on a family with a superstitious curse which causes a father to die if a son is born.[2]
Synopsis
Prakash, his wife Nandini, and his mother live happily under the same roof. It’s been two years since they got married and Nandini hasn’t conceived yet. Prakash isn’t ready for a child and he tries to convince Nandini of the same but she yearns for a child desperately. Despite his mother's opposition, Prakash gives in to Nandini's demands.
During the ninth month of her pregnancy, Nandini overhears a conversation between her mother-in-law and Sudam, Prakash’s dear friend. She realises that the family is doomed with a curse. If she gives birth to a son, her husband will die. Nandini requests an abortion from the doctor, but he refuses. She requests poison and thus begins the play of life and death.
