Limited-run series

In television, a limited-run series is a program with a predetermined end date. The shortest form is the two-part or three-part "made for television movie." Longer forms include the miniseries and elimination-style reality television game shows, such as dating game shows. The longest form of limited-run series is the telenovela, typically spanning approximately 120 episodes.
