List of The Heroic Legend of Arslan episodes
This is a list of episodes of the anime series The Heroic Legend of Arslan, based on a Japanese fantasy novel series by Yoshiki Tanaka based on the Persian epic, Amir Arsalan, with original character designs by Hiromu Arakawa, divided into two seasons.
In the first season, from episodes 1 to 13, the opening theme is "Boku no Kotoba Dewanai Kore wa Boku-tachi no Kotoba" (These Aren't My Words. These Are Our Words) by UVERworld, and the ending theme is "Lapis Lazuli" by Eir Aoi. From episode 14 onwards, the opening theme is "Uzu to Uzu" (Swirl and Swirl) by NICO Touches the Walls and the ending theme is "One Light" by Kalafina.
For the second season, the opening theme is "Tsubasa" (Wings), performed again by Eir Aoi, and for the ending theme is "Blaze", performed again by Kalafina

Taking advantage of the crisis in Pars, Prince Rajendra from the Kingdom of Sindhura commands an army to invade the country from the east, only to be defeated and captured by Arslan's subjects thanks to another of Narsus' stratagems. Knowing that Rajendra is contending for the throne of his own country with his older brother Gadevi, Arslan convinces him to form an alliance. | ||

Arslan and his subjects assist Rajendra's campaign against Gadevi, and are provided with a Sindhuran guide named Jaswant. However, Jaswant is not who he claims to be. Despite this, it does not take long for the party to turn the situation to their own advantage. | ||

Gadevi commands his army to bring down Arslan and Rajendra's alliance. Believing that he has the Parsian forces isolated, Gadevi sends his main force against Rajendra. A duel is called by the king to settle the dispute between the two princes. Daryun, chosen as Rajendra's proxy, battles Bahadur, a massive and vicious warrior released from prison by Gadevi to be his representative. Daryun is victorious, but Gadevi, not pleased with the result, turns against his own father and Arslan's party must fight for their lives amid the ensuing chaos. | ||

Following his father's death and his brother's execution, Rajendra is crowned the king of Sindhura. Arslan and his army then return to Pars, but Rajendra repays their help with another act of treason. | ||

The forces loyal to Arslan gather in Peshawar in preparation for the battle to retake the capital. However, faced with the issues regarding Silvermask's past and his own uncertain origins, Arslan's resolve falters. Then he meets a young girl unaware that she is actually Etoile, the same Lusitanian captive he met when he was a child. Her words inspire him to seek the throne for himself. | ||

Arslan is escorted by his subjects deep inside of the Keep of Saint Emmanuel where he confronts Silvermask in an attempt to call his cousin to reason. However, Hilmes refuses to listen and challenges Daryun to a duel. | ||

The Keep of Saint Emmanuel is captured by the Parsian army. By Arslan's command, the Lusitanian survivors, including Etoile, are taken with them as they keep marching towards Ecbatana. Meanwhile, Silvermask returns to the capital and forms a treacherous alliance with Prince Guiscard from Lusitania. |

Arslan's forces double back to Peshawar in order to repel an invasion from the country of Turan, while Gieve follows Silvermask into an ancient tomb. The two battle for possession of an ancient relic that would strengthen a claimant's right to the throne, until it is stolen away by a third party. Back at Ecbatana, Etoile arrives safely with the rest of the refugees, and King Andragoras takes advantage of a moment of carelesness from Guiscard to take him hostage. | ||

Andragoras escapes from Ecbatana, taking Tahamine with him. King Tokhtomysh of Turan arrives to lead a second attempt to capture Peshawar, this time executing several civilians in order to provoke Arslan and draw him into open combat. However, Tokhtomysh is forced to flee after underestimating the Parsians and is killed by his own son for his cowardice. | ||

King Andragoras arrives at Peshawar and promptly assumes command of the army. Arslan is commanded to leave Peshawar without his allies, and not return until he has gathered an army of fifty thousand soldiers, a seemingly impossible task that is tantamount to exile. Disgusted by the unjust nature of the royal mandate, Arslan's friends and advisors defy Andragoras to accompany the prince on his journey. | ||

Arslan's party arrives at the port city of Gilan in search of the reinforcements they need. In the occasion, Narsus meets his old friend Shagard and learns, much to his disappointment, that he is not the same idealistic man he used to be. The viceroy of Gilan is reluctant to give aid because of pirates allegedly attacking merchant ships off the coast. The party is incredulous, until a report arrives of a merchant ship under attack. | ||

After driving away the pirates, Arslan and his comrades befriend the grateful merchant captain Grahze. Together, they enact a plan to expose the corruption of Viceroy Pelagius and the other city leaders of Gilan. Meanwhile, to avenge their defeat at the hands of Arslan and his party, the pirate fleet launches an attack on Gilan itself. | ||

In Ecbatana, Guiscard confines Innocentius VII to his room, assuming command of the Lusitanian forces. To dispose of his brother, he involves Etoile and Irina in a plan to kill him. The plot ultimately fails, and Guiscard orders both to be executed, but Hilmes appear to intervene, breaking his ties with Lusitania in the occasion. | ||

Shagard, the mastermind behind the pirates, devises a scheme to lure Arslan's retainers away from Gilan in order to assume control of the city. However Narsus, having already grasped Shagard's intentions, outsmarts him with his own plan and confronts his former friend directly. Meanwhile Etoile reunites with the prince, asking for his help in order to save King Innocentius. | ||

After shaking off their pursuers, Hilmes and his men track down the Lusitanian forces that stole the treasured sword and retrieve it, then proceeds to launch an attack on Ecbatana. Meanwhile, Andragoras sets off with his army to retake the city as well. Upon learning of this fact, Arslan accedes to Etoile's plea and departs Gilan with his forces, despite knowing that he may be forced to confront his own father in the occasion. As the three armies converge at the capital, Guiscard refuses to concede, and sends the Lusitanian Army against the forces of Andragoras. |
