Following a budget fiasco, the men of Klangbury Council need to act quickly to stay in office. In the absence of the recently disbanded fire department, and with the council budget totalling a pitiful £1, the boys need to pull out all the stops to save their jobs. Klangbury's performing "talent" – a cavalcade of local weirdos, including the fat conjuror Derren Chillblaine – are rounded up for a fundraiser and Steve tries to impress the Mayor with his dancing horsey. But will it be enough to snatch victory? Whatever happens, the Department of Audience are on hand to help and viewers learn an important lesson about racial identity via a rousing sing-a-long song. 2 | "Crime" | Ben Kellett | Greg Davies, Steve Hall & Marek Larwood | 6 August 2009 |
An elusive thief cleans out the council office and wreaks havoc around town with his light-fingered antics. The Mayor is in an even more foul temper than usual after she gets fleeced, too, so the gang needs to recover the mysterious crook's swag. To cap it all, the entire police force has been stolen as well. A crime-busting initiative is launched, and the boys are aghast when the finger of suspicion is pointed at one of their number. The enemy is the Juggler and he is somewhere in the department of audience. Steve & Marek run away and come back in to save Greg after trying to trick him and put the Juggler on the seat and struck him. Featured Song: I hate him
3 | "Inspection" | Ben Kellett | Greg Davies, Steve Hall & Marek Larwood | 13 August 2009 |
It's Valentine's Day, and Greg is pining for a lady friend to share his love of cake with. On top of that, the Klangbury Council office looks like a pigsty, and the annual inspection is imminent. The Mayor is splenetic as ever, and Greg's mood takes a turn for the worse when the entire Department of Audience – save for one unspeakably ugly man in a vest – refuses to go out with him. Greg's spirit is lifted when a beautiful stranger drops by – will he find happiness not realising that his girlfriend was actually Leslie? And how did Marek, once Klangbury's leading ladies' man, become such a simpleton? All will be revealed... Featured Song: Inspection Song
4 | "Tourism" | Ben Kellett | Greg Davies, Steve Hall & Marek Larwood | 20 August 2009 |
The Klangbury Council klutzes are in a pickle again: Steve is in a coma, and the Annual Small Town Of The Year competition is looming, with rival town Midford-on-Sea hot favourite to grab the gong. All Klangbury has to offer is the Annual Potato Roll, Bin World and a distinctly off-putting theatrical showcase, as directed by pompous impresario Derek Upon-Tweed. It looks like curtains for Klang until a preposterous twist of fate hands them a lifeline, as a rich Hungarian prince appears out of nowhere, with millions to spend. Greg takes part in the improbable Hungarian national sport to impress the flamboyant new arrival, hoping he will splash his cash, while Marek and Steve go hunting for goulash ingredients... Featured Song: We love our town
5 | "Election" | Ben Kellett | Greg Davies, Steve Hall & Marek Larwood | 27 August 2009 |
The Mayor is battling for re-election against the people's favourite, Barry O'Charmer, so Klang hit the campaign trail. A rousing sing-song sees the launch of a new political party with a familiar, and incredibly unfortunate, acronym and, to add to the confusion, television chef Ainsley Harriott has apparently flipped his casserole dish lid and has revenge in mind. Incredibly, these disparate and unlikely plot strands are neatly wrapped up in a climactic showdown. Guest appearance by Ainsley Harriott Featured Song: Be Nice to People Party
6 | "Alien" | Ben Kellett | Greg Davies, Steve Hall & Marek Larwood | 3 September 2009 |
Greg is bristling with excitement and pride, as the Klangbury Centenary Parade looms. Waiting 100 years, the slacker heroes have been entrusted with immortalising the memories of the town for ever, in a time capsule and Steve plans to fire it into space. It's an apparently simple task, but one that they seem destined to mess up. As the ineptitude unfolds, in a distant galaxy, on an ice planet called Klung, three villainous aliens with super powers are banished into space for crimes too abominable to mention. These two worlds collide, courtesy of a giant catapult and a funny-looking cuddly toy (Marek's Mr. Schnitzer), resulting in chaos in Klangbury, and a punch-up involving Father Christmas, the tooth fairy, pixies & wheat intolorance to fight the aliens. Marek can only scream when he is the only one left while Series One[1] draws to a close. What happens next? Featured Song: We are nothing without our friends |
