Mary Jane  United Kingdom The ship ran aground on the Scarweather Sands, in the Bristol Channel and was abandoned. She was subsequently taken in to Porthcawl, Glamorgan, repaired and returned to service.[1]

Dewi Wynn  United Kingdom The schooner was wrecked at Cardigan. Her eight crew were rescued.[2]

Mersey  United Kingdom 219 ton Brixham brig wrecked on the beach at Porthleven, Cornwall.[3]

Ship Country Description
Hero  United Kingdom The Bideford polacca brigantine slipped her moorings in Penzance harbour during SSW hurricane force winds. Four of her crew and two others drowned.[4]
Mentor United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Jersey The ship parted her cables in the Isles of Scilly and collided with the brig Arthemise ( France). The crew managed to get on board the Arthemise which was then ran ashore.[5]
Pauline  France Carrying railway iron from Ardrossan to Rouen, the schooner was driven onto Crow Bar in the Isles of Scilly[5]

Ship Country Description
Award  United Kingdom While on her second voyage and bound from Liverpool for New Orleans, the 846 ton sailing ship struck rocks 1.5 miles (2.4 km) off Gweal. NNW force 8 to 9 winds drove her on to the northern end of Gweal, in the Isles of Scilly, pushing her bow on to land and forming a temporary bridge to the island. After twelve hours the crew of twenty-four managed to scramble ashore.[6]

Polar Star  United States The ship was wrecked on the west coast of Kamchatka in the Sea of Okhotsk during a dense fog and gale. The first mate and a boat's crew were lost in attempting to get ashore. The rest of the crew were saved by the barque Alice ( United States) and ship Oliver Crocker ( United States).[7][8][9]

Villiers  United Kingdom The brigantine was wrecked on the Mixon Shoal, in the Bristol Channel with the loss of two of her eight crew. She was on a voyage from Cardiff, Glamorgan to Alicante, Spain.[1]
