Malesherbes is a former commune in the Loiret department in north-central France. On 1 January 2016, it was merged into the new commune of Le Malesherbois.[1] It is 65 kilometers away from Orleans.
Famous people from the commune
- Chrétien Guillaume de Lamoignon de Malesherbes (1721-1794), magistrate, lawyer and French statesman. He lived in the Castle of Malesherbes.
- Hilaire Étienne Lelièvre (1800-1851), Army officer in Africa, a street name has been dedicated to him.
- Eugène-Louis Hauvette-Besnault, Indologist, was born and died in Malesherbes
- Jean Billard (1893-1968), French surgeon born in this commune.
- Jacques Pilhan (1944-1998), French advertiser and political communication advisor for François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac.
- Dominique Lacout, French philosopher and writer, born in 1949. He lived in the commune from 2000 to 2009.
