Manoj Pant, Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University Centre for International Trade and Development

Manoj Pant is an Indian expert in International Trade. He is a full-time professor at the Centre for International Trade and Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where he teaches International Trade Theory and Recent Developments in International Trade Theory. He is a regular newspaper contributor and for more than a decade he is writing for The Economic Times. Apart from Trade related issues, his contribution to Competition related issues is noteworthy.

He has published two books and over a dozen articles in national and international referred journals. He is a lead speaker on WTO issues for the last four years in seminars of the UNCTAD, OXFAM and other non-governmental organizations, specifically on issues of investment and competition policy. He was an expert member of the Ministry of Commerce group on Environmental issues in the WTO, of the consultative group on trade issues of the Planning Commission, a member of the technical committee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development for WTO and trade in Educational Services and Chairman of the Project review Committee, Department of Scientific and Industrial research, Govt. of India, 2005-2007. He also writes a monthly column for The Economic Times publication.

His book on Foreign Direct Investment in India: Issues Involved is still popular among students, researchers and faculties in India.

Prof. Pant has obtained his undergraduate degrees from St. Stephens College, Delhi and his Masters degree from Delhi School of Economics. He has done his Ph.D at Southern Methodist University, USA.
