MARCA.com is a Spanish website owned by the Unidad Editorial. Miguel Ángel Turci is the editor. It contains nearly all of the content of MARCA as well as a substantial body of web-only work produced by its own staff, including a rolling news service.
Content
There is a major leaning towards domestic football, but the site also carries broad coverage of other sports. It gives prominent focus to Formula One, covers football in Latin America and has coverage of the USA Basketball leagues (where several of the big stars are Spanish). The site also provides an English language version. This is smaller than their native Spanish site, and is still in its infancy. The site relies on translation which, while accomplished in its own way, in no way competes with the Spanish sports coverage that the site provides.
Criticism
While the site has an understandable leaning towards Spanish sport and national achievement it is easy to criticise the huge focus given to Real Madrid C.F. and FC Barcelona, which occupy the limelight on their web page front. It is inescapable, however, that the success these football teams enjoy brings them to prominence in Spain, justifying their position as the inevitable lead on such a prominent Spanish sports web site.
