Mark Conway (31 January 1964) is an English professional rugby league footballer of the 1980s and '90s, playing at club level for Stanley Rangers ARLFC, Leeds, Wakefield Trinity (captain) (Heritage #995), and Dewsbury, as a Scrum-half/Halfback, i.e. number 7, and occasionally Stand-off/Five-eighth, i.e. number 6. He still holds the most conversions in a match record at Wakefield Trinity.[1][2]

Playing career

County Cup final appearances

Mark Conway played Scrum-half/Halfback in Wakefield Trinity's 8-11 defeat by Castleford in the 1990 Yorkshire Cup final during the 1990–91 season at Elland Road, Leeds on Sunday 23 September 1990.

Club career

Mark Conway played Scrum-half/Halfback, and made his début in Leeds's victory over Bramley in the Lazenby Cup at Headingley Stadium in 1981, that was to be his only appearance in the starting line-up during the 1981–82 season as the understudy to Kevin Dick, Conway spent five seasons with Leeds competing with Kevin Dick, and Cliff Lyons for the Scrum-half/Halfback position, and he produced a number of memorable performances in cup ties.[3] Mark Conway is sixth on the all-time Wakefield Trinity goal kicking list, and fourth on the all-time Wakefield Trinity points scoring list.

Outside of Rugby League

Mark attended Newton Hill Junior School, Outwood Grange School, and is now a mortgage broker in West Yorkshire, and a coach at Stanley Rangers ARLFC. He has a daughter, Danielle (aged 22 ) and a son, Matt (aged 18).
