Marta Menegatti (born 16 August 1990)[1] is an Italian beach volleyball player.
Biography
From 2012 through August 2013, she played with Greta Cicolari. Menegatti and Cicolari qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In London, the pair qualified for the quarter-finals by winning all three matches in group F and winning their round-of-16 match against Spain's Elsa Baquerizo and Liliana Fernández. In the quarter-finals, they were defeated by United States' Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. Menegatti, whose childhood idol was Misty May-Treanor, was visibly upset during the second set of the quarterfinal match.[2]
As of 2016, her teammate is Victoria Orsi.
However, due to allegations that she took a banned substance, Orsi was not allowed to participate in the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio. Three days before the opening ceremony the Italian Volleyball Federation partnered Menegatti with Laura Giombini.
Despite being a makeshift team, Mengatti and Giombini managed to finish second in their group and reach the round-of-16. They lost in two sets to the United States' April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings.
