Masayori Inouye

Masayori Inouye is a Japanese biochemist who, along with his team, discovered natural antisense RNA.[1] Inouye was also a key scientist involved in the discovery and characterization of retrons, which are retroviral-like elements found in various bacterial genomes. Retrons produce small satellite DNA known as multi-copy single stranded DNA (msDNA) and have recently been demonstrated to be important virulence determinants for gastrointestinal disease (Elfenbein et al., 2013)
