Matthew Zay (born January 1, 1991) is an American professional ice hockey forward who is currently under contract with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Playing career

Zay played collegiate hockey for the Mercyhurst Lakers in the NCAA Men's Division I Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA). Zay's outstanding play was rewarded with a selection to the 2013–14 All-AHA First Team.[1]

At the conclusion of his senior year with the Lakers, Zay signed an amateur try-out contract with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. He made his professional debut with the Falcons and played three games before he was released and picked up by the Binghamton Senators to finish the 2014–15 season.

On May 28, 2015, Zay was signed to a one-year AHL contract for the 2015–16 season with the Binghamton Senators.[2] After participating in the B-Sens training camp, Zay was re-assigned to ECHL affiliate, the Evansville IceMen for the duration of the year.

As a free agent in the off-season, Zay opted to continue in the ECHL, signing a one-year deal with the Elmira Jackals on August 3, 2016.[3]
