Michael R. "Mike" McLane is an attorney and a Republican politician from the US state of Oregon. He serves in the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 55 in Central Oregon. In the current session, he serves as the House Republican Leader.
Early life and career
Born in Condon, Oregon, McLane graduated from Condon High School in 1983, and then from Oregon State University with a degree in Agricultural Resource Economics in 1987.[1]
He earned a law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School and clerked for Justice W. Michael Gillette at the Oregon Supreme Court.[1] He worked as an attorney for Stoel Rives, as a prosecutor in Multnomah County, as a federal prosecutor, and served several years as a circuit court judge in Deschutes County.[2]
McLane co-founded a publishing company that produced the Flying Rhino children's book series, which led to the Flying Rhino Junior High Saturday morning cartoon series.[3]
He is an attorney at the Bend law firm Miller Nash, LLP.[1]
Political career
McLane was elected to the Oregon House in 2010 and was re-elected in 2012 and 2014 [2014].[2] He currently serves as the Republican Leader in the Oregon House.
Personal
McLane, his wife Holly, and their three children live on a small farm in Powell Butte, near Bend.[1]
