Millard School

The Millard School was a military preparatory school founded in 1953 in Langlois, Oregon by Colonel Homer Millard and his wife, Ester. The school prepared students for entry into West Point and the United States Air Force Academy. In 1962, the school moved to Bandon, Oregon, due to the increasing number of students. That same year Col. Millard died. Ester Millard continued to run the school for the next nineteen years, during which time the school had an excellent reputation and a high rate of admission into the military academies. The school was the successor to the earlier Millard's Preparatory School, also founded by Homer Millard, which existed in Washington, D.C. from 1925 to 1948.
